The Surrey Hills project involved the design of a single storey extension to an existing Californian Bungalow, providing the Client with a family room, kitchen, butlers pantry, laundry, rumpus, study and mud room.
The relationship between inside and outside living was essential for the young family who loved entertaining. The kitchen was a pivotal part of the house, being able to access the fully fitted butlers pantry to the right, laundry to the left, views to the childrens study, family room and outdoor spaces at the same time.
The existing house was also reconfigured to create a walk in robe and ensuite to the master bedroom, as well as a complete refit of the existing bathroom. The overall result was modern, clean line design while paying respect to the traditional style.
In the Clients words, the mud room was the most successful part of the renovation - a space accessed directly from the carport, where school bags, coats and shoes are stored.
